Some thoughts on RPG Maker
It's been awhile since I posted anything, so here's some.
The more I dig in this game's innards, the less I like RPG Maker. The way things are done around here is inefficient. Like "having a duplicate code for every loot chest" tier inefficient. No wondeer it lags on startup. And yes, changing as much as one item name means that you are in for some fun time hunting down all those chests.
As for the translation itself, little by little I'm nearing my second major milestone, aka full translation of intro and first princess' quest line, as well as all places that you can visit during this quest. If I'm to release a partial patch, this milestone seems like a good moment to do so. Thought I'm still unsure if I want to.
Anyway, see ya there.

Grumbling
Did I mention that my japaneese is very, very, very basic? Because it is. And this is the main reason I didn't (and probably won't) pick more ambitious projects.
Thanks to the wonders of information age this doesn't pose as much problem as it used to. But when you are getting stuck on some random NPC phrase and still can't figure it out after couple of hours, you are very aware of things that can make or break a translator. Especially if we are talking about literary translations.
And if this NPC has the last line of text you've left to do on this map, this drives you up the wall as well.
In case you are thinking "Oh wow, another quality translation. I'm so done with this", I can't really blame you.
Alright, grumble time is over. Stay tuned for something more positive.
