Did you miss me, you wankers?

Hey, chummers. It's been a month and I feel like I owned you a progress report.
I don't know what I was expecting. But I know what I wasn't. I wasn't expecting this to take so long. But oh well, what can you do. From the very beginning I wasn't in the position to adequately judge the amount of work before me.
On a lighter note, I'm putting the finishing touches to the second princess' questline, I just didn't want to advertise this until I'm actually done. Despite all I've said before, it feels like I'm finally getting somewhere.
If only it wasn't for 80-something optional hentai scenes. They are all starting to look the same after a while.

Time flies

I mean really, it's been almost a month since my last post and it sure doesn't feel like it, both in terms of subjective time and amount of progress I've made so far. Anyway, I've made some and this is what really counts, right?
In fact, safe for some bits of one scene I'm struggling with, I'm pretty much done with the first of three princess' questlines, basically hitting the milestone I was talking about previously. To put this into perspective, after you've recruited all three of them, you are free to engage the big bad of the story. After that you have two even bigger baddies to defeat, but I didn't go that far during my playthrough. From what I could gather, finishing parts are not as text heavy. Except for actual endings, naturally, they'll be plenty of work.
Yeah, turns out this game have a number of endings. Hoshino's attention to details deserves some respect.
That's all for now. Stay tuned.

But muh plot!

Just found out that TechArts are to be closed down.
This means that OLE, May-Be Soft, SQUEEZ, Milk Tank, MBS truth and One-up could all go down the drain.
Those are dark times.

Some thoughts on RPG Maker

It's been awhile since I posted anything, so here's some.
The more I dig in this game's innards, the less I like RPG Maker. The way things are done around here is inefficient. Like "having a duplicate code for every loot chest" tier inefficient. No wondeer it lags on startup. And yes, changing as much as one item name means that you are in for some fun time hunting down all those chests.
As for the translation itself, little by little I'm nearing my second major milestone, aka full translation of intro and first princess' quest line, as well as all places that you can visit during this quest. If I'm to release a partial patch, this milestone seems like a good moment to do so. Thought I'm still unsure if I want to.
Anyway, see ya there.

Grumbling

Did I mention that my japaneese is very, very, very basic? Because it is. And this is the main reason I didn't (and probably won't) pick more ambitious projects.
Thanks to the wonders of information age this doesn't pose as much problem as it used to. But when you are getting stuck on some random NPC phrase and still can't figure it out after couple of hours, you are very aware of things that can make or break a translator. Especially if we are talking about literary translations.
And if this NPC has the last line of text you've left to do on this map, this drives you up the wall as well.
In case you are thinking "Oh wow, another quality translation. I'm so done with this", I can't really blame you.
Alright, grumble time is over. Stay tuned for something more positive.

Lost in translation

Well, some things just don't work when translated. Pun names written in katakana is one of them.
In case you wonder, the last line wasn't in the original text.

Not much to report otherwise. I'm doing my thing. If you want fancy detailed charts, you came to the wrong guy. I mean I can think of something if some people care that much. But I sincerely doubt that they do.
Yeah, I'm a master of PR as well.

Anyway, stay tuned.

Slogging through

Cheers boys and lads, for I brought you good news.
Safe for an instance or two, which I left for double-checking during a playthrough, I'm finally done with all weapons, items, gear and whatnot. Also done transferring all previous changes from version 2.0 to 2.2, since I'm an idiot who couldn't be bothered to check such things beforehand.
They still require a quality check and probably a lot of editing. But in the grand scheme of things this means that I can finally get my hands on juicy bits, namely the plot.
Stay tuned.
